First Love!

What a change it brings upon a man. What a magnificent secret it is he carries around  with him. The tender passion that rushes instinctively out of his heart. He loves just as a bird sings or a rose blooms – from nature.

First Love!

What a change it brings upon a man. What a magnificent secret it is he carries around  with him. The tender passion that rushes instinctively out of his heart. He loves just as a bird sings or a rose blooms – from nature.

I bet each man can remember their own. Mine was in the midst of a wonderful Greek summer, while I was Island Hopping.
Caught in a meltemi somewhere between immensity and eternity around the small  Cyclades, was a small ship carrying two souls with no more than five t-shirts, two pairs of jeans and a beach towel.

Like so many others before it, it was a half-naked summer. Everything left behind.
One thing I will never forget, is closing my eyes mid-sea while looking out to the endless blue, intently trying to make a mental mark in my head of how I felt at that moment, right then and there. Striving for my remembering self to hold on to the  memory of that intense feeling of freedom, for the years ahead.

Since I was a little boy, I remember the Greek summer. Our motto could have been:
No shoes, no rules. Those were the days when nothing else mattered, than what we  wanted to matter. Bike rides, insect collections, open air roof parties and fruit fresh  cut off the neighbor’s tree.
As teenagers we would take the first boat from the harbor, no matter where it went.
All islands felt the same to us. Sea, sun, beach life and long lunch-turned-dinners.

There is nothing like the Greek light.
One can go around the world a thousand times,  they will not find anything like it. But I guess one has to go a thousand times around the world only to discover what they were looking for was right before their very eyes.

Much like their first love.
